End of Watch
Stephen King
⭐⭐⭐
The final book in the Bill Hodges trilogy. Brady Hartsfield returns for a spooky, supernatural finale, a psycho-killer for real this time out. Bill has his work cut out for him. A fitting end providing an open runway for Holly Gibney to strike out on her own.

Finders Keepers
Stephen King
⭐⭐⭐
The second book in the Bill Hodges trilogy. This was actually my favorite of the three. King often misses with his female characters, but his kid characters mostly ring true and authentic. Good pacing and a great final act had me glued to the end.

Mr Mercedes
Stephen King
⭐⭐⭐
The first book in the Bill Hodges trilogy. Hodges, a retired cop is taunted by a maniacal killer who used a stolen Mercedes to murder 16 people. Bill uses his detective skills along with sidekicks Holly Gibney and Jerome Robinson to bring the killer to justice.

How to Lose Your Mother
Molly Jong-Fast
⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was a hard read for many reasons, not least because my own mother is 87, but it was worthwhile and I definitely had strong empathy for Jong-Fast's experiences as the child of a famous person with a big ego and narcissistic tendencies.

Holly
by Stephen King
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I am totally reading all the Holly Gibney books out of order but it's not really a problem. King has his tics & tropes but I fell in love with Holly as she was played by Cynthia Erivo in The Outsiders HBO miniseries, so I'm willing to dive in and enjoy the ride.

A House with Good Bones
T Kingfisher
⭐⭐⭐
An enjoyable summer read. Sam comes to stay with her mom at her childhood home, once owned by her Grand Mae. Even tho Grand Mae is dead, she's still around and very angry. Then, things get creepy and weird. The Underground Children are real.

The Golden Hour
Matthew Specktor
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A compelling story of a Hollywood family during the modern golden age of moviemaking. The juxtaposition of a sincere family history inside a life steeped in celebrity culture allows readers to contemplate the commonalities of suburban upbringing.

The Unworthy
Augustina Bazterrica
⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is not an unreliable narrator, but an unreliable universe. A climate apocalypse has occurred. Some female survivors live in a former monastery where they practice a brutal religion.
You might guess the truth, but that won't ruin the adventure.
