My eight-year-old son wanted a Silksong shirt, because he's the coolest.

So naturally I had to order one too. Look out, world.

A Profound Waste of Time Issue 5 arrived in my mailbox yesterday, and it's just perfection as I've come to expect from APWOT.

The cover story about Unicorn Overlord and Vanillaware was great and accompanied by some spectacular artwork throughout.

@cazwis.bsky.social congrats on the release!

More fun findings from the Video Game History Foundation's Digital Library.

This GamePro (Issue 54) coverage for MK2 in the months leading up to its release was absolutely captivating to me as a kid. Reading that Reptile would be PLAYABLE and had his own fatalities blew my young mind.

Found a hidden gem among the EGM2 uploads in the VGHF Digital Library tonight!

A behind-the-scenes two-page article about the making of Tattoo Assassins, featuring pictures of character concept art that I've never seen anywhere else.

This is so cool!

The Video Game History Foundation Digital Library's archive/scan of EGM2 Issue 10 (April 1995), which includes the most in-depth coverage of the cancelled game Tattoo Assassins of any gaming publication.

Glad to see this preserved.

Spotted these two on my eight-year-old son's doodle page from aftercare today.

My kid's cool as shit.

@gameinformer.com

Finally got my hands on the return issue after returning from vacation, and it's everything I hoped it'd be. Loving the improved paper/cover stock in particular, and I want to give a shout-out to this article about Captain Blood. Pirate action games are all too rare, sadly.

Okay, this game has its hooks in me big time now. Just stumbled upon it on the eShop sale the other day, and I'm addicted. It's a simplified Slay the Spire with a fun pirate coat of paint, and it offers some surprising depth under the surface once you dig in.

Music is great too.

CFC2 is actually somehow my first time ever playing CvS2 online against human competition, and man is it such a great game. Absolutely deserves its all-timer status among fighting games. This was Capcom arguably at their peak of arcade design right here.

Starting from scratch with a new Tattoo Assassins Community Discord server to replace the one that was deleted.

If you were in the old one and were confused by its sudden disappearance, feel free to hop into this new one.

It's the best fart-centric fighter on the planet! 💩🤜

So I guess this is the explanation, as completely divorced from reality as it may be.

I've always had nothing but respect for ColetteDiskette and thought of her as an online friend within that community. I hope she finds peace going forward since we'll likely never speak again.

Looking for some people to play Tattoo Assassins with, so I'm putting out the fart signal.

Anyone looking to catch these hands (and toots) on Fightcade, you'll find me waiting in the lobby for the next few hours. If I hear that challenge sound I'll switch over to my PC to run some sets.

When watching through the Tattoo Assassins Fightcade sets that I was uploading earlier tonight, this insane read caught my eye.

Diarrhea blast right at the start of the round? How did he KNOW?!
May 6, 2025 at 2:57 AM
How it feels to sit for hours in an empty Fightcade lobby for a hyper-obscure fighting game.

If you know, you know.

Got to check out Super Nintendo World at Epic Universe yesterday, and I was pleasantly surprised to see at least one nod to Nintendo IP outside of Mario and DK. I peeped these Zelda stained glass windows in one of the shops, right above the entrance when you walk in.
May 5, 2025 at 7:12 PM
Yeah. Would be great to have you in there.

John Carpenter (SquidBoy), another TattAss programming lead, also watched these sets this morning.

Very cool that they get to see this cancelled game from 30 years ago being played online today.

To count yourself among the Tattoo Assassins, you must first master these four deadly moves.

MAME 0.277 just dropped, bringing with it a fix 30 years in the making...

www.mamedev.org?p=550

Tattoo Assassins has had janky, incomplete sound in emulation for decades now, but no longer.

I hope more people give this unique gem a shot now that it's faithfully preserved.
April 30, 2025 at 2:24 AM
Why, yes. I AM playing an arcade-perfect rendition of Tattoo Assassins on my retro handheld while I work. Thanks for asking.

Just had a perfect arcade run with AC Current using butt-only finishing moves: Anal turkeys, flaming farts, and diarrhea blasts.

This is living.
April 29, 2025 at 1:51 PM
Another little fun fact. AC Current originally had basically a loin-cloth and no pants. His pants were completely painted on frame-by-frame in the game, probably because someone decided they didn't like the original look.

Tattoo Assassins.

A tale in four images.

Yeah this is a bit better. Thanks!

Started my first-ever playthrough of Suikoden 2 last night, and the game's reputation precedes it.

And you know what? That reputation is well earned. I can already tell that this is a top-tier JRPG and one of the most improved sequels ever.

Who can forget the other notable MK Klone on the Atari Jaguar: Kasumi Ninja?

As usual, it was a turd. But I had no way of knowing that as a 90's kid gawking at screenshots of cool ninja characters performing fatalities on each other in small previews like these.

Bonus: a two-page ad for the game
