Cessation of grouse moor management and climate change scenarios are both predicted to drive declines in Red Grouse, Curlew and Golden Plover. Our paper in @jappliedecology.bsky.social, led by Tom Mason, combines these factors in modelling future population trends.

Some constructive recommendations made for invert-friendly BNG improvements.

Access isn't access if it exists behind a paywall. Disappointed in @rewildingbritain.org.uk for getting into bed with this. At the very least don't call it wild-camping. I have no problem with estates charging folk to come and do voluntourism, but dressing it up as some kind of opening up is a lie.

Humans: Yes! We can generate energy from sustainable sources like wind and energy.

Also humans: Let's use ridiculous amounts of energy to let AI generate shitty images and texts nobody asked for.

Academics had to spend $8.349 billion to publish their own work between 2019 and 2023 alone 🧪 🌎. That is a lot of money not spent on generating knowledge.

Even more bizarrely, if abundances started at 40, 20, 20 & fell to 10, 10, 10 this would gain me credits if the 40 is in a species with a close relative! And yes, apparently there are projects setting out to generate credits under this scheme. No wonder people doubt the #biodiversity credit market!
