This is a great read, not just on the book which is well illuminated, but the moment in which the book finds itself. A great lens for the challenges we face right now, even as the book appears to be from another time and place.
Turned this liveskeet review thread into a proper book review.

TL;DR: Abundance was written for an alternate timeline. It is still a good book, but it is not a *timely* book.

That isn’t the authors’ fault, but it is nonetheless its main limitation.

Impressive how well Booker is landing this mega-speech. Kudos to him and his staff.

There's 45 Democrats in the U.S. Senate. If each of them did a 24 hour rotation on the floor, doing what Cory Booker is doing, they could shutter the Senate

Think of the WH drama that would ensue. Think of the media coverage involved. Each senator would get to soap box every 45 days (sorta ironic)

This line from @gilduran.com's latest newsletter made me take a break and stare into the middle distance for awhile.

There is nothing *new* about megalomaniacal wealthy fools chasing pipe dreams of immortality.

What's new this time is they LITERALLY CONTROL THE WHOLE DAMN GOVERNMENT.

Call your Senator(s).

We just need 10 to call a Conference to replace him.

🚨So you're probably wondering, or should be wondering: how do Senate Democrats remove the spectacularly unfit Schumer as Minority Leader? Turns out it is easy to do - at any time!

"Rules for the Senate Democratic Conference" specify in part II paragraph 5 that: 1/4

If there are Democratic Senators who plan on voting for the GOP budget, other than Fetterman and Schumer, they should say so now and articulate their reasoning.

Elected officials should not hide their intentions from their own constituents.

This is not an impressive defense. Literally every “consequence” of a government shutdown is a description of things Trump and Musk are already doing

Congrats Chuck Schumer you have thoroughly misplayed the funding fight. You’ve done everything possible to take ownership of it, despite democrats having no levers in govt.

Dear Democrats: If the Republicans want a vote from you, make them beg you for it.

Beg. Until then, do nothing.

Have a price and make it very high. Explain your offer well before the vote to the public.

Not this. You gave it for nada.
