I hope if the United States is able to emerge from the burning wreckage wrought by Donald, Elon, and their Nazi GOP Stasi, that a renewed cultural respect and admiration for Science comes to fruition in my lifetime.
This is a giant story. US science & tech power emerged after WW2 because of sustained Federal investment. When that stops, people leave. When the people go, science stops. W/o science, we become poorer, sicker, & way less able to dig ourselves out of future messes.
But, you know, trans folks exist.

It’s stunning to me that the New York Times did not put the story on the bloodbath at the NIH, CDC, and FDA on its front page this morning.

According to one of my (Republican) Senator's staffers this morning, the Senate switchboard was getting 1,600 calls per MINUTE

Here is what happens when you call, an aide has to answer then that aide has to write down the inquiry, that is presented to your politician. Now times it be 1000% and that aide is now stressed, lines get disconnected, the stress created is transferred to the politician. The pressure builds up.
"People are waking up. Our office's phones are overwhelmed today. This rally tonight to protest Musk and Trump's seizure of our personal data was supposed to have a few hundred people and 1000+ showed up."
