On a topic aside from writing - I love this young lady's message, her energy, and her obvious tenacity. We need more young Americans who have this unique personality set to get engaged as she is doing.
Broadview PD instructed us to go into the “free speech zone” early. Last week, they told us to go into the street and then we got beat with batons.

We’ll see what happens!

After nearly 60 years of contemplating good vs. evil, this is all I got:

"Good grows with peace and contentment."
"Evil spreads with power and strife."
"The two are not compatible."

Session ended.

Almost a year has passed since Hurricane Helene ravaged Western NC. Neither mobile data nor internet service have since been the same. Just this past week alone, I've lost 4 nights of editing work due to service outages with Spectrum. Life in the wild is losing what little charm it once had.

Brother and sister, these two stray kittens hang out with me as I write on the porch. I can't touch them yet, but they love to be fed. Though I dive into the horrors of mind and body on the pages, I'm constantly reminded of the beautiful magic of life.

Writing that first novel is a daunting task. Not only does this crash course force you to swallow your pride, it will define your writing style for better or worse. I'm almost through the gauntlet & I want to encourage anyone reading this to believe in yourself & never abandon your dream. Yes u can.

One hundred years ago, on April 10, 1925, Charles Scribner's Sons published The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Still relevant, I see.
“They were careless people…they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness…and let other people clean up the mess they had made…” -- F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby (April 10, 1925).

As I sit here writing in my mountain home, surrounded by fires, I feel crushed by the pain and suffering in Myanmar and Thailand, who are in far greater danger than I. Their pain is our pain. If all we can do is to send a blessing or a heartfelt hug their way, this is better than nothing.
Deeply saddened by the powerful earthquake that has struck Myanmar and Thailand.

This adds to the already critical situation in Myanmar, where millions of people are in need of humanitarian assistance.

The EU stands with the people of Myanmar and Thailand.

Mood.

The dark-eyed addict stares at his stunted host, a poker face hiding his thoughts—and dead silence captures the space between them. Smoke swirls and whips through the air, a cautionary dragon’s tail. Then a misplaced breeze stirs their sentience.

It's high time for a refresher on these works before armed MAGA militias are sent to confiscate my books of enlightenment.

DID YOU KNOW: We had fewer federal workers in 2024 than we had in 1970?

Agreed.
This is a slap in the face to American women.

Pete Hegseth has a track record of disrespecting women service members, and multiple credible sexual assault allegations.

Our troops deserve better.

I'm officially opposed to starting a novel with nothing but a few characters and a vague notion of a plot. I've tried this with my 1st novel, still in editing, and I've had to backtrack more often than a lifetime smoker trying to quit cold-turkey. Book #2 will be outlined. Live and learn.

Working late into the early morning hours doesn't give one a pass for the next day. Find a reason to wake early and be productive. One of my triggers is to feed my freezing wild birds shortly after sunrise. Their lives are hard enough. Then it's straight to work. Pedal to the metal!!!

"Powering the world with clean energy is common sense."
Folks, no matter what Trumpigula says, it's really that simple.

I love writing in the quiet solitude of night, where yesterday's troubles have settled in the dust, and tomorrow's grief is still a lifetime away.

I'm iced in on MLK, Jr. day, but the power and internet are solid, so I can rock out a chunk of editing on my forthcoming horror novel-and keep my mind occupied on this sad and bittersweet day.

Spice this up with irony, terror, and despair, and it would make a killer story.
