Couldn't get into dev brain much the past couple days, so I decided to revisit the base topology to feel productive. The boy has not-box fingers and some sharp edges to hint at muscles.

Nothing like motion sickness to start the day!
Testing the mantle on moving things and checking to make sure IK doesn't break on tilting platforms. Going to revisit the slope slide and rework it today because it's not the vibe I'm aiming for.

Setting it up so standing on a steep slope makes the player slide down, only issue now is it's based on player facing still haha

Unfortunately spent most of my day dealing with crazy bad chest congestion and being in a brain fog if I wasn’t sleeping.

Been sick the past week but it was the worst today. Hopefully on the mend now. Fumbled with skeletal things when I had time, but I’ll share more when I figure it out!

I think I got the basic workflow for replicating this hair aesthetic now, until I hit another road block 😅
But hey, it's enough that I feel like I can move on to more stuff, and maybe even get back to gameplay logic! :D

Okay so I figured out a method that boils down to box modelling strips and then using hair tools Grid Surface generator to make strands + modify them. I think it's time I actually /figure out what hair styles I want/

Morning all! I'm still workshopping hair today, I may end up making a simple geometry node set up to build ribbons that get solidified so I'm not box modelling each strand 😭
Here's the current working mesh, just extracted the scalp faces and started extruding (with a solidify modifier)

tl;dr forgot I had Hair Tools, took a preset and messed with it a bunch. Not in love with the chopped aesthetic, and iterating it may be a pain, but hey I have my first hairstyle so I'll take the W!

Did an ungodly amount of iteration on the kawaii physics stuff today. Learned a lot about collision and rigging, biggest take away is: Be careful how you weight stuff and double check hierarchy so you don't break skeletons.

Still a bit of clipping to remedy, but it's mostly working now!
By the end of this I may have a biblically accurate skeleton though, with how many bones I'll be adding for accessories like this. 😅

And also a backpack placeholder! I'm still trying to figure out the best approach for skeletal stuff, but I think having all the bones in one "master" skeleton will at least be easier to comprehend as I go on.

Added in foot rotation to match the surface normal so your toesy don't clip. Also using anim curves for separate foot IK alphas :)

Polished the logic a bit more, figured out motion warping so the height/inward distance always matches correctly (at least for the tests so far) Now to build out the rest of the checks! (landing spot normal, real height, head room, etc.)

So I made the one animation, and then I set up some logic to set the start time based on the height found in front of the player. So if it's 2m it does the whole thing, if it's 1 it only plays half. Only issue is moving the player *in* at the end.
