Gemini CLI (the product I work on) can make external tool which, I believe, Gemini's web interface can't do. The first time I asked it, it gave me the correct answer but with Bushrod and Mosswood reversed (big failure). I cleared the context and tried again and it got it right:

I'm legitimately confused. This seems like a reasonable itinerary pretty much indistinguishable from one a human might suggest if you asked them.

No. The english language pretty clearly defines a lie as an *intentionally* false statement. A faulty thermometer isn't "lying" when it displays the wrong temperature. It's just outputting incorrect information.
