Today my @nytimes.com colleagues and I are launching a new series called Lost Science. We interview US scientists who can no longer discover something new about our world, thanks to this year‘s cuts. Here is my first interview with a scientist who studied bees and fires. Gift link: nyti.ms/3IWXbiE

This is not news, but RFK Jr. is a two-faced liar. This is what he does - says one thing, and when it's not convenient for him to say it again, he'll lie and gaslight the person who asks. #FireRFKJr #RFKJrMustGo
CNN put together a clip of RKF Jr denying today he linked antidepressants and mass shootings, followed by a clip of RFK Jr last week linking antidepressants and mass shootings

🧵RFKJ and one of his ACIP picks, Robert Malone, appear to be getting ready to restrict the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) immunizations (nirsevimab and clesrovimab) saying there is a vast cover up of vaccine safety data.

As a pediatrician and CDC worker I have two questions for RFKJ about that:

RFK: you are making that up (mark your card, it’s on camera).

Tina: if you want to talk mental health and gun violence let’s talk. The admin is making it harder to get mental health care.

Rural communities and people with disabilities will have even more limited access to health care. Families with low incomes who rely most heavily on community clinics and health departments will have fewer resources available to them. Children will lose access to lifesaving vaccines due to cost.

CDC cut funding for FoodNet, a population-based surveillance program for 8 foodborne pathogens

For any keeping score in this admin, that's zero real improvements on nutrition-related chronic disease risk while increasing nutrition-related infectious disease risk.

In this extract from their book, the authors of Finding Australian Birds remind us to avoid disturbance, stay on paths, never handle birds & think before sharing rare sightings.

Reading The Midnight Library, and this line popped out. Explains a lot right now.

“She realised that you could be as honest as possible in life, but people only see the truth if it is close enough to their reality. As Thoreau wrote, ‘It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.’”
