iOS 26 Features Battery Settings Overhaul
iOS 26 Features Battery Settings Overhaul
In iOS 26, Apple updated the Battery section of the Settings app to provide a much more in-depth look at how your iPhone usage impacts battery life and how much battery apps are draining, plus there are new battery management tools. At the top of the Battery interface, there's a readout of your current battery and the time that you last charged. If your ‌iPhone‌ is currently charging, it will let you know how much time is remaining until a full charge. Battery usage is no longer split by 24 hours and 10 days, with Apple providing just a weekly view of average battery use along with a comparison of how much battery you're currently using compared to your typical average. The new comparison feature will let you know if you're using more, the same, or less battery life than you do on most days. It shows which apps used more battery and by how much, which makes it easier to tell what's draining your battery. App battery usage includes specific details, such as letting you know if an app ran in the background longer, was on your screen longer, or sent more notifications than normal. You can tap back through the previous 7 days to see how much battery you used on a given day, with a breakdown for active use and screen idle use. It also shows when you charged and for how long. There's still a Battery Health section where you can see charge cycles and maximum capacity and a Charge Limit section where you can limit charging to 80 percent. Apple also added a new Power Mode option where you can toggle on Low Power Mode or the new Adaptive Power Mode. Adaptive Power Mode detects when ‌iPhone‌ usage is higher than normal and makes small performance adjustments like lowering display brightness to extend battery life. These new battery features are available in ‌iOS 26‌ and iPadOS 26, but Apple hasn't changed the Mac battery readouts. ‌iOS 26‌ is limited to developers right now, though a public beta is coming next month. ‌iOS 26‌ will launch to the public in September.Related Roundup: iOS 26 This article, "iOS 26 Features Battery Settings Overhaul" first appeared on MacRumors.com Discuss this article in our forums

Windowing, Menu Bar, and Pointer Come to iPadOS
Windowing, Menu Bar, and Pointer Come to iPadOS
Apple today revealed an overhaul of iPad multitasking, introducing a completely new windowing system, a macOS-style Menu Bar, and a pointer. The centerpiece of the multitasking improvements is a new macOS-style windowing system. Apps still launch in full-screen by default, preserving the familiar ‌iPad‌ experience, but users can now resize apps into windows using a new grab handle. If an app was previously used in a windowed state, it will remember that layout and reopen the same way next time. Intuitive window tiling allows users to simply flick a window toward the edge of the screen to automatically tile it into place. To make managing multiple apps easier, Expose—a feature long familiar to Mac users—comes to ‌iPad‌, offering a clear overview of all open windows, allowing quick switching. A new gesture allows users to swipe home twice to minimize all open apps and windows, instantly returning to the Home Screen. The updated multitasking system is fully compatible with external displays. A menubar is now visible at the top of the screen, similar to macOS. It provides access to key app functions and system controls. A redesigned trackpad pointer also comes to iPadOS 26. Rather than the circular, shape-shifting blob from previous versions, the ‌iPad‌ now uses a traditional pointed arrow to improve precision, particularly when navigating menus and smaller elements.Tag: WWDC 2025 This article, "Windowing, Menu Bar, and Pointer Come to iPadOS" first appeared on MacRumors.com Discuss this article in our forums

WWDC 2025 Logo Hints at iOS 19's New Design
WWDC 2025 Logo Hints at iOS 19's New Design
Apple today announced that WWDC 2025 starts June 9, and the logo for the conference hints at iOS 19's rumored new design. Multiple sources have claimed that iOS 19 will feature a new design that is inspired by visionOS, the software platform for Apple's Vision Pro headset. The new design is expected to include more translucent app icons and menus, with a glass-like appearance. The "25" in this year's WWDC logo also has a subtle visionOS-like appearance. iPadOS 19 and macOS 16 are also expected to have visionOS-like designs, which would make Apple's software platforms look more uniform. In January, the YouTube channel Front Page Tech shared a render of a redesigned Camera app that is allegedly planned for iOS 19. According to Front Page Tech host Jon Prosser, the Camera app will have more translucent menus and buttons, along with a larger viewfinder. Earlier this month, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said the visionOS-like design changes will extend to other interfaces on iOS 19, meaning that the new look with more transparency will likely extend to other Apple apps, app icons, notifications, and more. Gurman believes that iOS 19 will have the most significant design changes since iOS 7. Apple is expected to unveil iOS 19 during the WWDC 2025 keynote on June 9, so we should get an official look at the new design in a few more months.Related Roundups: iOS 19, WWDC 2025Related Forum: Apple, Inc and Tech Industry This article, "WWDC 2025 Logo Hints at iOS 19's New Design" first appeared on MacRumors.com Discuss this article in our forums

What do you think of the new iPhone 16e?

I think it’s a substantial upgrade from the iPhone SE 3, but the price is a bit high for a “budget” phone.

On the other hand, it features many flagship features but lacks some even basic features (Camera Control, MagSafe, Dynamic Island).
