What many don't realize is that the annual average daily temperature for Lafayette, Louisiana (69F) falls right between that of Los Angeles (66F) and Bermuda (72F).

Some might say we have the optimal Goldilocks temperature.

I think the city should market that more.

Gumbo weather is defined as 1st day w daily maximum temperature <70F.

Last year (2024) was latest in last 120 years. We had to wait til Nov 20! We are not hoping for a repeat.

Congrats to Victoire Soumano, a MS student in Environmental Resource Science who won 1st place oral presentation at the Tri Societies (ASA, SSSA, CSSA) 2024 meeting in San Antonio. Victoire presented her work: “Bioremediation of lead contaminated soil with biochar and compost treatments.”
