I’m good, thanks. I’ll stay in community with the women in my life who aren’t homophobes, I think. JK Rowling probably has some space for you in the transphobe tent if you decide to branch out from homophobia. Anyway, best of luck on your campaign to normalize hate speech. Have a nice life

Right, I forgot there was nothing misogynistic or homophobic about using “eat a dick” as a pejorative. My bad. Definitely don’t waste any time reflecting on that!

I just don’t fuck with homophobes, friend. You can take your “hurr you suck another man’s dick” shit back to your westboro baptist comrades.

No space in the movement for bigots, soz.

“I dislike the misogyny, but only as an afterthought once I’ve made it clear that I get to tell two women of color what paying adequate attention looks like. I am very smart.”

The people that don’t leave the site with them are comfortable being blasted by a constant stream of hate content. Those folks need the site to dry up and die, which will never happen as long as it’s being propped up by people generating content that fuels the “own the libs” machine

I’m curious why the merc didn’t cover this? Seems like something this egregious from other councilors would have gotten multiple stories in multiple outlets. I know why the O and WW wouldn’t have wanted to cover Ryan’s choice of language, but why didn’t the merc?

Oh neat! If the evidence points to this not materially impacting rent pricing then it seems like the ban is just a common sense preventative, and none of the rational economic actors involved will mind when it passes!
November 19, 2025 at 4:51 PM
I can! It’s not what happened though. He called Dan Ryan right-wing. That’s not you. It doesn’t sound like there’s a reason for you to feel like your identity as a liberal is being impugned because a politician is being criticized for using outrageous and inflammatory language.

Context matters and right wing is an inherently relative term. He is absolutely on the right wing of city council. I’d argue he’s moving in the direction of being aligned with the right wing in Oregon overall, but that’s debatable.

Same friend. I look forward to your earnest concern about tone and decorum showing up in Dan Ryan’s social posts soon!

I think it’s sick and cool to say true things, personally. If someone gets called right-wing because they’re labeling their opponents nazis for trying to protect consumers from rent-fixing schemes, and you feel personally bullied, that might be a “you” thing.

Losing respect for someone because they know facts you don’t like is very of the moment

To those who say that I’m out of touch with the views of my district I say this: I ran for this seat to represent those who don’t get a voice. Who don’t have traditional access to power. You probably won’t hear their voices at a neighborhood association, but they still exist and I am their councilor
