mouldering lump of organic matter trapped in a series of social media accounts with diminishing returns
the thing that most likely happened is the grand jury returned a no true bill, but the foreperson told Halligan they agreed on two of the counts. Halligan had a new indictment written up for the two other counts, found the foreperson in the hallway and had them sign it without reconvening.

I loved the long chicken sandwiches I ate there 20 years ago. but these days BK can no longer execute. people say, "those are just your memories from being young and stoned." and to them I say: I am just as stoned right now. and this chicken is long but not good

I'm giving up on this, but I think you should consider the implications of your argument, because free speech would no longer exist. the government could pass a law saying its illegal to spend money on a piece of paper and a magic marker if you intend to use it for a sign critical of the government

The Supreme Court erred by finding that money (or anything else of value) is speech and that corporations are people. The fact that the Federal Reserve issues the dollar is just not germane to that
October 16, 2025 at 7:20 PM
this is why campaign finance laws are not limited to expenditures in dollars, but to giving anything of value. also once money is in your pocket it is no longer "public," you own it, and there are Constitutional limits on the government's ability to take/regulate your property (due process etc)
October 16, 2025 at 7:16 PM
there are a half dozen reasons why you would be laughed out of court for that argument. but here's one: there is no government monopoly on money that makes all money "public." you can use swiss francs or crypto to buy goods or services if the other person will accept them, or barter your cow
October 16, 2025 at 7:15 PM
That is what the court has done, but Congress can't overrule the Supreme Court when it strikes down legislation based on Constitutional rights. Marbury v. Madison. Basic civics. Doesn't matter if the legislation says otherwise.

We have public funding of elections if you choose not to accept private donations. But in terms of mandatory for everyone, even if you had the presidency and dominant majorities in Congress the current Supreme Court would take 5 minutes to find that it violates the first amendment and strike it down

It was a 5-4 decision. 5 justices appointed by Republican presidents voted for it. 4 justices appointed by Democratic presidents voted against it.

corporations aren't people. they are magical people who don't need to breathe, eat, and who can potentially live forever. they can steal money or kill people but can never go to jail. it makes sense they would have far greater legal and constitutional rights than your typical meatbag "human being"
