Went on a jaunt to Lindsborg today to watch a Raymer Society auction at the Birger Sandzén Memorial Gallery. One of the most entertaining experiences I’ve had lately.

🧵: I meant to attend the opening of "Anila Quayyum Agha: Interwoven" at the Wichita Art Museum last night, but instead got wrapped up in a conversation with a dear friend and didn't drop in until 20 minutes before closing. I was the very last visitor & it wound up being the perfect experience.

It struck me around the third Twilight movie that Bella is the embodiment of the 1995 dating guide “The Rules”:

“Be a ‘Creature Unlike Any Other’” (#1)

“Let Him Take the Lead” (#17)

“Be Honest but Mysterious” (#20)

Bella is totally a Rules Girl, even if she does rush into immortality.

Lunchtime reading: Finished Trishelle Jeffery’s “Best Breasts in the West,” a graphic memoir that began as a printmaking graduate thesis show at Wichita State. Recommend for fans of Alison Bechdel. Now available from Fieldmouse Press.

Took this photo from my passenger-side window while sitting at the light at Grove and Central in Wichita at about 4 p.m. today. Sometimes I need the crazy Kansas light to remind me how much I love living here.

I’ve been waffling about my subscriptions to NYT & WaPo, but finally decided to access these resources with my library card & divert some of the savings to local news media.

I declined the opportunity of full NYT digital access for $1/week, but WaPo got me with a $29/yr annual offer.

No doubt Stand Together grantees are doing some of this work, but its organization also includes Americans for Prosperity. Including this quote in an article like this one is one of the strongest piece of evidence that the Koch network rebrand has been a success.
