Married to my love. Trans rights are human rights! Love our kids, pets, old houses, and demolition. Known for dinner, sewing, gardening, occasionally knitting but always sarcasm and sass.
Quiet morning knitting up my first pair of Sailor Slippers. I was up early because the dog jumped out of bed very early due to thunder snow. Poor dude can’t catch a break with weather. It looks like we got 8-10” here and it’s a very wet snow. #knitting

I finished the green paint on the exterior walls. Tomorrow it’s supposed to snow 6 inches and then the temperatures plummet and we have no wall insulation so the paint will freeze if I paint at that temperature. Interior storm windows building continues tomorrow. #oldhouselove

Bald Eagles
Black bear family (in the UP of Michigan)
Raccoons next door, let my coonhound tell you about them.

Ok folks 9 days after finishing painting the living room and I have most of the use of my hand back. It’s still tender in the palm when I apply pressure like when cutting out two layer of thick canvas fabric (did that yesterday) but should be good to paint again today. 😜

Our Dog had his 8th birthday today and we spoiled him with a thrift store gift basket with a couple new toys.

Got back on my walking the talk and volunteered at our local food bank’s urban farm this morning. We patched up any holes in the hoop houses to ready them for winter.

As a card carrying member of the restore all the original windows brigade, can I just say wtf are they even doing to these windows? Why didn’t they remove them first? #oldhouselove

#oldhouselove Hi! This is why you don’t want me to prime your basement windows for you. Because the next thing you know I’m pulling off aluminum siding to find the detail trim it’s hiding.

What’s this? Not a window? Shaking things up this week and throwing the last 2nd floor door on the paint stripping saw horses. There were seven doors with 100 years of paint, I’ve been working on for three years. This door had one coat on one side and I did it. Back on my window B.S. after this.

I have taken up sock knitting! This is some sock yarn I got at the thrift store for $1 a ball and it’s the cutest! My first sock was way to loose so I had to frog it.

I also cancelled Hulu and Disney+ because I’m an anti fascist.

I feel like I’m finally getting the window restoration process figured out. This one only took three days of work. It will take longer to complete just because the linseed oil paint takes so long to dry between coats. Maybe I can get three sets of windows done in six weeks.

#oldhouselove Another week and I’ve started another window. When I complete this set I’ll have 1 double set finished since the start of summer.

#oldhouselove Folks I’m still plugging away at windows. I have two sets done, tops and bottoms & 1 more bottom is stripped and ready for new glass. My goals is to finish 3 more sets before winter.
So that’s why I painted trim today with Linseed oil paint and then it rained. :(

Timeline cleanse. I’ve been on Peony watch and it’s here finally!

I snapped this beautiful wavy glass. I want to cry. I was going to leave the glazing but the bottom of the window is falling out and need to be glued. So I tried to soften and remove the glazing with some linseed oil.😭 #oldhouselove

Oh windows. It’s the summer of windows and this one was one of the worst but underneath all the paint is shellac and now I’m not painting them but I’m going to learn how to shellac and then use linseed oil paint on the exteriors.

This is a rant about Pinterest. I started pinning again because I am a fan of inspiration from still photos. Anyway with our 100 yr old tree cut down our yard is a barren wasteland and pinterest is feeding me ugly ai images. UGH! I hate the rocks, OUCH and the fake grass is done. #oldhouselove

I helped @kinshipmke , a local food bank, plant green beans at their urban farm this morning and did lot of weeding. As usual it was quite the workout but any day spent with my hands in the earth is a good day.

This batting sheds so incredibly much. I’m covered in fur after a quilting session.
April 29, 2025 at 9:44 PM
Pinning the quilt backing together has been a family event involving the dog and the cat.

Enjoying the day with the plant babies and the dog! Trying to ignore all the work that needs to happen to the back of the house. That’s a later in the summer project.

Oh yeah I’m back to staring at this hole. I’m going to rummage through our salvaged trim and see if I can match or come close to something here. Kid moves back in tomorrow so I’m cutting it close here.
April 4, 2025 at 2:58 PM
This is a corner of number 2 kid’s room. I’ve been working on it for over an hour and it still looks like poop. Luckily he said he doesn’t care so it’s only going to bug me. This heat register is just resting inside a rusty bent vent. There is no framing around it. #oldhouselove

Today’s goal is to set up our dog a Boomie Roomie because it’s supposed to thunderstorm tomorrow. He hasn’t used a crate since he was a puppy but hoping a safe space in a closet he can go in and out of might help with his storm anxiety.
