I wonder how much Ossoff cares about the health care subsides because Georgia runs its own marketplace. SNAP maybe. He definitely doesn't care about trans people based on the responses I have and have not gotten from his staff.

Kemp still hates him, but he won't be governor. It will be interesting to see who is governor of Georgia by then. A Democrat might not have power to do anything, but a Republican might be loyal to the Kemp faction and fight back.

She was explicit, plus people can just understand what a *clean* resolution is. It's a common political term.
I understand wanting to avoid doomerism, but some of what you hear is just people looking to fight a battle they feel more likely to win.

There are two ways to keep the government open: The full FY26 appropriations bill for the entire year, and a continuing resolution to keep it open for a few months at current levels.

im a little confused re: the government shutdown bc the CR being argued over seems different than the house's appropriations bill (which contains the trans healthcare hyde amendment thing) that was introduced earlier this month but some outlets are reporting on them as tho they are the same?

The CRs are clean, but would only delay the fight against the appropriation bills for a few weeks. (And Erin has been transparent about that.)
There's doomerism on one side, but too much hand waiving on the other. That can make us too complacent. I read both sides and get a good sense of reality.

"enough of us" being a key phrase here. ICE didn't have to round up every immigrant to scare the rest into hiding or going home. They don't have to round up every trans person to simply make us fear existing openly in the world. Or, more importantly to them, discourage any kid from coming out.
