1 month ago, our 11-yo Lab yelped & broke lame on his right forelimb. My last dog died from osteosarc, so I was sure that was it. Turns out it was an inflamed nerve w/radiated pain in the RFL. Many hospital trips for Dx, MRI + Rx + meds + rest & he is walking & feeling so much better! Toys again!

I won't lie. Prepping a book for publication is stressful! But it's happening, y'all. Bloodstream, my second full-length collection of poems, is in the final stages of proofing. I am so excited! More info about publication ETA & a planned book launch when I'm able to share!

Thrilled to share that I'll be reading from my book, The Grief Committee Minutes, at @thelynxbooks.bsky.social on Oct. 2 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. with Eric Doise, who'll read from his late wife, Saara Raappana's book, Chamber After Chamber. From Gainesville or nearby? Hope you can make it!

I first crossed paths with former Alabama poet laureate Jennifer Horne about 5 years ago, when @alinaetc.bsky.social did a joint review of two of our books for the sadly now-defunct New Southern Fugitives journal. We reconnected recently & traded books. Excited for this beauty!

@mitchnobis.bsky.social 's recent post inspires me to share this poem from his debut collection, The Size of the Horizon, or, I Explained Everything to the Trees. So much heart here, & I'm just getting started...

New head shots! Thanks to GNV photog Adrienne Fletcher & MUA Kara Winslow for always helping me out when I have a need. One of these will hopefully be the author photo for my forthcoming book, Bloodstream. But which one? Up to my publisher & his team to decide...it's in their hands now:)

@emmabolden.bsky.social I literally just came across this poem, reading the last issue of the Gettysburg Review. So thoughtful & well done. I relate.

Yes, it was as good as it looks, and easy, too: mushroom spinach casserole with parmesan & mozzarella.

Who'd'a thunk my poem on the Gainesville Burger Club website would warrant a weekly spotlight shout-out from SWWIM?! Thanks, @kavetchnik.bsky.social & Cat Prescott for the honor! Link to poem in comments! TL;DR: I'm not a rubric person when it comes to burgers

Me in my dad's Tilley winter hat. He loved hats. I gave him this one many years ago, & brought it back with me from his storage unit we cleaned out after his memorial service in Anchorage in 2017. It's my favorite hat. Actually, the only one I wear.

Fun with my UF Health team of communicators retreating at the Fountain of Youth today in St. Augustine! Don't we already look 10 years younger? 😂

My stepdaughter made sure I wouldn't forget to sign her copy of The Grief Committee Minutes when we visited her in Oldsmar yesterday. I think it blends in well with her decor, do you?

When we'd visit my mother at Christmas, she would often wear a sparkly holiday necklace one of my sisters had given her. I brought it back after she died & wrote a poem about it, which was never published by a journal, but is in The Grief Committee Minutes. I still feel her with me.
