October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In March 2021, my mom, my rock, was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer. Today, she's a survivor. These pink highlights each October will be our new tradition.

Sadly came to the conclusion that I will NOT be participating in Inktober this year. I've participated since 2018, but between my FT job, art block, and fighting with my anxiety, among other things, I must pass this year.

Seeing that we're going into a new week, what is something from last week that either lifted your spirits or made your week?
For me, my partner surprised me with 3 pokemon plushies just because!! We each got three: a mythical, an eeveelution, and a fav. It made my week!

What's some of your favorite things to do over the weekend?
For me, I'd say going to the farmer's market Saturday morning and getting to play some games typically. If I'm feeling a little adventurous, I think going on a walk sounds nice or visiting the gardens.

Really, it started with gathering some reference images of leaves and starting out with some studies and thinking about her parents and color. It was a fun process; I really slowed down and took it one step at a time!
