A page dedicated to the fight to protect Wombat State Forest and see its permanent protection as a National Park for future generations.
Great to see that this legislation has finally been tabled. It doesn't stop here though - now we need to see that our Parks are properly funded and resourced. Let's hope this legislation sails through...

If it looks like a duck; walks like a duck; quacks like a duck. but it's not logging? if it's logged by a logger; loaded by a log loader; sorted at a log yard then delivered 2 a logging mill. Ya'd reckon it's logging. Nah. People are getting pretty sick of being gaslit.

They axed VicForests, but the bulldozers are still rolling. Wombat Forest is being trashed under the guise of “salvage”. This is public land, not a free-for-all. Stop the lies. Stop the logging. Legislate the park. #StopTheSalvage #WombatForest #VicGovFail

More on the exploitation of the Wombat. Those that enabled this destruction should hang their heads in shame. midlandexpress.com.au/latest-news/...

"As a part of Victoria’s transition out of commercial native timber harvesting in state forests, the Victorian Regional Forest Agreements (RFAs) were terminated on 31 December 2024" ... About bloody time and good ridance! www.deeca.vic.gov.au/futureforest...

Active management isn’t a free pass for destructive practices. In Wombat, “active” too often means overreach, not stewardship. Wardell-Johnson’s work urges us to rethink: Are we managing forests for biodiversity—or for industry profits disguised as environmentalism?

Salvage logging in Wombat Forest damages resilience, stripping ecosystems of the ability to adapt to climate change. Wardell-Johnson’s insights are clear: some forests heal best when left alone. Let’s stop calling exploitation “management” and start prioritising regeneration.

The government has kicked the can down the road again! No Central West Parks until next year. Not only have they protected (cough, cough) the least amount of public land in a bloody long time but also taken the longest amount of time ever to do it. Meanwhile salvage logging is about to start again!
