Between the disappearing of humans by the American government and the death of grandfather I’ve didn’t the last few weeks retreating; into work, into books, into sleep. It’s all too heavy. I spent the last two days putting my hands in dirt and planting pretty and tasty things.

My Grandpa Phillips was born on Oahu in 1927. He was playing on the beach when Japanese bombers flew overhead in 1941. He and Grandma raised 4 sons, who raised 7 grandchildren, who are raising 15 great-grandchildren. At 97 years old, after almost 75 years of marriage, we laid him to rest yesterday.

@liarae.bsky.social and I got to speak to high schoolers about career opportunities in our school district. It’s important to get to know the aspirations of our youth, and to help them see all of the wild possibilities that exist. Schools don’t just employ teachers. #EduSky

One of my goals this year was to treat myself to some things I know I’ll enjoy. Tonight was Labyrinth, one of my favorite movies, with live music. It was amazing! Ah, the movie that created unhealthy relationship goals in an entire generation. 😝

I’m happy my grandpa had a healthy, active 97 years of life. Even as this is the best possible scenario, watching someone you love through hospice isn’t easy.

I used my office ChatGPT for a project today and my boss saw that I didn’t thank it when I was done. I’m trying not to humanize the technology. He told his AI, who told him to tell me that “they” would remember my lack of courtesy in the uprising. I’m amused and disturbed. #WhoIsRight ?
