I enjoyed that one! I was fascinated that you could build a decent story around such an innocent childhood craft.

As someone who navigates a day job in parallel with writing career, I'll also say: this is EVERY industry right now. Sweeping layoffs. Massive pivots. Dropping salaries. Rising productivity metrics. Attention is fractured. It takes more to break thru noise. And venture capital is squeezing everyone
ICYDK, publishing is in a decline. Many authors who have had dependable contracts in the past are now scrambling to make ends meet and seeing lower advances and fewer sales than ever. If you see lots of book publicity posts, it's because we're scared and trying to keep our jobs during The Horrors.
