So we’re clear, tariffs combined with tax cuts for the wealthy is just upward transfer of wealth. It’s regressive taxation. People who make money by not working get to keep more of it, while people who work spend a larger percentage of their dwindling income on a worse standard of living.

The entire Ghibli ethos is tied up in the idea of craftsmanship. It's a textual subject of the films (hand carving violins in Whisper of the Heart, for just one example) and the meta work that goes into the films themselves. Their films feature hard workers, and are animated with sweat and tears.

The reason Kiki's Delivery Service is one of my two favorite Ghibli movies is not just because it's the cute witch movie, it's because it's about the anxiety and burnout that comes from monetizing your hobbies and every time I watch it I feel like I got punched in the face (positive)

i've honestly been thinking about this for a few days & i just want to say that no matter how pressured you feel into "marketing" or whatever... there is always a choice to not do it. there are only so many hours in a day. you can choose to work on your craft over making tiktok or w/e. i promise

one very annoying thing about the death of games media and the rise of the youtube/streamer influencer as the primary pillar of game related criticism and so on is that it is weirdly fucking difficult to find a simple explanation of what a popular game is and if it is any good

one thing i hope we can move away from in the next social media era is this idea that accounts with big followings have some sort of power, and that the algorithm favoring a spare thought one day does not mean that the person who expressed that thought has a coordinated campaign of intent behind it
