I think some of the TNG writers had a kidnapping fetish. (just watched the very silly and horny "Ménage a Troi").

Episode "Sarek", 3.23, is written by Peter S. Beagle of the last unicorn fame. I find this episode frustrating because it doesn't challenge ableism or ideas about individual great men. Other people NEED to be able to step in and do your job, that is necessary!
