Stop calling it deporting, so MAYBE more Americans will get it. "Deporting" is sending someone back, after due process, to the country they came from, where they arrive a free person. This is human trafficking to a foreign torture prison for the rest of their lives. GET THE LANGUAGE RIGHT.

Stop the genocide!!! Don’t look away.
"My colleagues tell me that they just want to die with their families. Their worst fear is to survive alone. Day and night, we listen to air strikes shaking Gaza. Bombs are falling nonstop. Hospitals are overflowing with mass casualties, the one just a block away from me included."

The fundamental choice has not been as stark since World War II: democracy and freedom, or dictatorship and tyranny.

Trump and his sycophants are siding with the latter. The rest of us must loudly, proudly, and boldly proclaim our allegiance to the former.

Grateful to Maine (albeit a few days late)—to
Gov Mills and Sen King for modeling how to say NO to power grabbing greedy Dumpster and Musket. We must not comply.

Government launches investigation into Maine hours after Democratic governor stood up to Trump’s ‘bullying’
“In America, the President is neither a King nor a dictator, as much as this one tries to act like it – and it is the rule of law that prevents him from being so,” Gov. Janet Mills said.

Tyranny requires your fear, your silence, and your compliance.

Democracy requires your courage.

How is this the only mention of this executive order I can find? Per the Guardian, “The order comes as members of the Trump administration have considered disregarding judicial orders.”
The Guardian reports on executive orders: The first “reestablishes the longstanding norm that only the president or the attorney general can speak for the United States when stating an opinion as to what the law is”, an aide tells the Associated Press.”

This is scary AF. We need to call on academic institutions to uphold democratic values, including free speech, and support them in doing so.

SHARE WIDELY.
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.

With mass deportations starting today across the country, it is vitally important - for both citizens and non-citizens - to know your rights.

You have the right to remain silent. Assert it. You have the right to a lawyer. Ask for one.

One of the things you learn as you read the history of the Weimar Republic is that some people saw what was coming but were completely ignored. It's never completely unforeseeable, it's just that most aren't paying attention or are consumed by normalcy bias.
