Sometimes I go into the basement and look at my pressure gauges being now well within acceptable tolerance & pet the copper pipes.

I appreciate infrastructure.

Maple just came and stared at me with big eyes until I lifted the blanket & now she’s purring noisily behind my knees. It’s not even cold!

Ivy really did take under Loki’s wing. She’s got her own weirdness, but she’s taken on his lörg waterbottleness cuddler role in the years since his passing. She’s a lap cat despite her touch hypersensitivity. (But I can make her purr just talking to her.)

Oh! Also read a short: The Lady Astronaut of Mars by Mary Robinette Kowal. reactormag.com/the-lady-ast... Reading another now as I wait on the holds from the series it’s attached to. Found because @katexas.bsky.social shared the author’s communicating cat.

Omigawd, the ascending electronic beeping in the alley is baaaaaack!

Last year, I’d ascribed it to a discarded fancy washer(which was chiming! Really!) but what are the odds? Scooter maybe?

But shoutout to the young ‘un who told me “miss, the bus never stops at the stop, stops at the light, you might wanna move up.” And then “I’m just looking out for ya, miss. Those old heads…” (head shake)

Aaaanyway, I turned 50 this summer & oddly have been getting more male attention than I probably ever had in my younger years & it’s weird & unsettling & not really welcomed.
