10 years ago I had the opportunity to help launch a brand, ad campaign + new company all at once during one of the largest corporate separations in history.

Couldn't be more proud of that work & everything HPE achieved since then. Congrats to my former colleagues & everyone still making history! 👏

While I know this reflects a portion of the population, it's concerning that any company has the opportunity to influence so many users who may be struggling.

In a joint study, Researchers with the UK's Alan Turing Institute and Anthropic found that posting as few as 250 documents online can poison AI models.

In one example, they were able to get 4 different-sized AI models to output gibberish text.

It's that end-of-year budget season for lots of businesses right now. Need strategic support while you're facing a hiring freeze?

A fractional leader can give you the expertise you need at a lower cost than a full-time hire, plus the flexibility to scale with your needs.

Interesting example of how company & brand strategy are much more complex than just product capabilities & visual identity.

If you offer tools or software that can be used in ways you or your customers may disagree with, does the outcome matter to you? Think ahead about how you might respond.

PSA: stop asking people to use another custom platform to join your community & assume an online group will be self-managing. Go where people are, carve out your little corner of the world, and proactively facilitate conversation.

Excellent read. I'm a huge fan of @notion.com and here @laurengoode.bsky.social from @wired.com captured the experience, excitement and angst of how AI is changing how people work. Fun peek behind the scenes at how AI coding apps are becoming the industry's "smart interns" to help get work done.
Jumping into #startuplife, I learned how to vibe code, presented during a demo day, and actually shipped a new feature in the Notion app. But what was more interesting was observing how seasoned engineers are changing how they work, because, AI. www.wired.com/story/why-di...

How do you choose the best response in a crisis?

From a brand POV, I agree with this take. Astronomer made the best of the situation & turned attention into awareness.

Some PR folks disagree. Interested to see what the data shows & if it's different internally.

How vulnerable is your business to threats?

While this story is about one app that's been around for a few years, I worry similar stories will be more common as tools make it easier to build new products that may or may not have security built in.
Update: the Tea app has been hacked, and 72,000 images from the app have been leaked, including verification selfies and photos of users' driver's licenses

That new vibecoding trend? Might save time, but it might also ignore explicit instructions and delete your production database. 🤷‍♀️

Reworking instructions on a GPT I set up & I'm reminded of its biases. In written responses, it assumed certain users had a wife or husband.

If you've set up custom GPTs, do you have standard instructions for specific things like this that you build in?
