Also, this badly threatens neurodivergent liberation.

Doubtless not the intent of these specific authors but this whole line of enquiry amounts to divide & conquer

Make autistic activists separate from those with co-occuring learning disability so that they cannot advocate for them.
www.nature.com/articles/s41... A big, well funded team tries to sort autistic people into four invented categories, based on 7 other invented categories. Based e.g. on past research that doesn't say what they allege it says. No inclusion of autistic people, discussion of ethics, human rights, etc.

Ethical autism representation "centres autistic voices, not just autistic stories. It avoids fear, pity, or inspiration tropes, and instead asks: What does support look like? What does respect look like? What barriers can we remove?" By Chelsea Verrette:

Dads are spending 3-4x as much time with their kids as their dads did with them.

When father figures are engaged, kids show better cognitive development, boys have fewer behavioral problems, and girls have fewer emotional problems.

Every child deserves strong parental bonds.

Rescissions package passed by a single vote. Devastating but we fight on in the Senate. This cannot become law. Millions will die.
The House is voting on the rescissions package THIS THURSDAY.

Congress is considering devastating cuts to global health funding, including to PEPFAR and ‪@unicef.org

From a colleague. Keep calling! It’s working!!!

“We’re hearing that because enough moderate Republicans in the House are telling Speaker Johnson they’re against PEPFAR cuts, the White House is going to amend the package. The pressure is working!!“

Very cool. This mirrors my anecdotal experiences too. Welcoming to our community really helps folks.

The welcome pack used is available here; reframingautism.org.au/service/welc...

Just having a browse of it myself. See what it covers & if it’s worth sharing with folks I know.

The highest compliment from someone who disagrees with you is not “You were right.” It’s “You made me think.”

Good arguments help us recognize complexity where we once saw simplicity.

The ultimate purpose of debate is not to produce consensus. It’s to promote critical thinking.
