This maybe laughable, but these stunts are dummy runs in the alternative war
Nothing says legitimate organic Right Wing uprising in the UK like a meaningless petition that gets retweeted by a foreign billionaire with 200 million followers on the platform he controls.

But wait til you hear where the signatures are coming from!

Foreign Billionaire tweets about a pointless UK petition to his 200 million followers, twice in 3 hours and the Right Wing get super excited that the signups are an organic show the “will of the people”🙄

We had 14 years of incompetence, corruption, chaos and decimation of our public services.

And the British people finally said enough is enough 5 months ago

So you know what, you can now wait for the next GE in 5 years time. You’ll have your turn to have your say then👍🏻👍🏻

We had an election 5 months ago

With a resounding result

Absolutely nothing has happened since then to warrant a return to the ballot box

No constitutional crises, no churn of Prime Ministers…

You not liking what Labour are doing doesn’t mean there should be another GE

But, come off it.🙄

This is just a daft stunt that Musk, in his current weird obsession with Starmer, has decided to amplify for sh*ts and giggles.

The Right are overjoyed at the response - thinking it actually means real people are on their side.

There’s even someone in North Korea with opinions on Kier Starmer’s premiership!

From Uzbekistan to Saint Maartin, Vanuatu to Western Sahara - there are people taking time out on a Sunday to sign a petition calling for a GE in the UK

Astonishingly, 0.13% of the entire population of Vatican City wants another General Election in……checks notes….. the UK.

As does 0.02% of the population of Monserrat.

Who knew 🤷‍♀️

Seeing as the discourse has shifted, in some areas, to how progressives need to be more accepting of anti-migrant attitudes, to prevent hardline anti-migrant groups increasing, here's a piece I wrote about why, and how, pandering to such views will always fail👇

We need this kind of rhetoric from more - many more - politicians.

Thanks Caroline Voaden for addressing the elephant in the room.

Time others spoke more openly & honestly about why the country is so impoverished & what can be done about it.

It’s time politicians were honest: Brexit isn’t working
My home town of Totnes is known for its left-leaning, alternative approach to life. On 4 July it came together to resoundingly elect the first non-Conservative MP for our constituency in more than 100...
