I encourage everyone to watch John Oliver's piece on this, and I welcome conversation from anyone who actually takes the time to watch it and wants to discuss it in good faith. youtu.be/flSS1tjoxf0?... (3/3)

We can continue to have good-faith conversations about how to include our trans community in sports in a safe and fair way. But that's not what these bans are doing - they are designed to exclude trans people, mostly trans kids, because their authors want trans people to not exist at all. (2/3)

Yes, I do see a difference, that's why I voted Harris. It was a full-on dictator vs the shitty status quo. Democrats pretend to care about the people but they still support mass incarceration and deportations and genocide. Liberalism leads to fascism every time because it fails the people.

Fascism is the merging of corporate power with state power. We've already been there for a while under both Dems and Reps.

What do you mean by democracy? Do you mean maintaining a system where money = speech and people in rural areas are over-represented? Because that's what Dem electeds mean. If they actually cared about democracy they would abolish the senate and electoral college and get money out of politics.

The two-party system is how we got here. Why should I be forced to vote for a party that doesn't represent me just because the other option is worse? We need to break the two party system with democratic reforms like proportional representation, ranked choice voting, and publicly funded elections.

It's not 🤷‍♀️ I'm not denying that antisemitism really happens and it's not okay. But criticizing Israel's government isn't the same as being antisemitic. "Israel speaks for all Jews" is an awfully convenient line to take if you're Israel and you don't want any criticism.

It's hard to fathom how the wealthy can behave the way they do. If I ever have more than I need it goes to helping other people.

Found a graphic. It's normal for us to get a wavy polar vortex sometimes but global warming is making it more extreme.
January 22, 2025 at 8:48 PM
You probs know this but for anyone who doesn't: global warming IS causing this cold weather. Less ice at the poles weakens the polar vortex, an air current that keeps cold air contained. The cold air moves closer to the equator causing colder weather than we'd normally see in these places.
January 22, 2025 at 8:22 PM
Even though it's cold in FL, global warming is still the cause. Less ice at the poles weakens the polar vortex, the air current that keeps cold air contained to the poles. A weak polar vortex allows cold air to move closer to the equator. But that's too much science for these people.

Yeah, I'm well aware she's not a leftist. I'm saying Democrats fight against leftism harder than they fight against fascism. Like when they circled the wagons against Bernie, or when leftists democratically took over the NV Dems and the establishment took all the money and created a shadow party.
January 22, 2025 at 12:34 AM
Democrat politicians would rather have fascists in power than leftists. Their interests are aligned with capitalism and they don't want to see it challenged.
January 21, 2025 at 8:55 PM
The wealthy and corporations donate just as much to Democrats as they do to Republicans. Both parties answer to the rich, not to the people. We need to break the two party system with democratic reforms like proportional representation, ranked choice voting, and publicly funded elections.

But also, we will never fully reform our way out of oligarchy. Our real power is that when we don't work, capitalists don't make money. We need to be laying the groundwork for a revolution. That means labor organizing, mutual aid, community organizing. We're doing this at DSA. dsausa.org

I believe if we want to get electoral power for the people we have to start at the local and state level. Come up through the ground like weeds. Support candidates who don't take corporate money. BE candidates who don't take corporate money. Local and state policies can make a big material impact.
