My name is Sarah, and I’m a theatre artist, educator & jazz singer from the West of Ireland.

I’m interested in turning away from the big social media companies & to support more people-friendly platforms.

I remember how awkward Facebook felt at first as compared to Bebo, but this is a start!

Today, we pay tribute to Pope Francis.

He welcomed refugees & the homeless where others turned their backs.

He called for peace — in Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, the DRC & beyond — where others cheered for war.

His humanity is an inspiration to us all, and he will be greatly missed.

There is nothing controversial about Kneecap. Art being provocative is as old as time. Music has long been a vehicle for challenging oppression and injustice, especially rock and hip hop. Rage against the Machine, N.W.A., Public Enemy. Music and politics go hand in hand.

He wouldn’t speak to me for 5 days after I came back from 6 weeks away. Then last night he crept into my room and occupied the end of the bed…

Taken by Benjamin de Burca, not me, but I love how @mdeburca.bsky.social and I look like two happy old fellas with their pints in the back of an old Dublin pub, after an epic day protesting the genocide in Palestine.

The jazz clubs in Buenos Aires are unreal and the concerts excellent but only about an hour long!

It’s cool they do two sittings per night, but for such beautiful venues, it was a shame to just come for a short show and then leave…so Irish of me!

La Montaña Emperador Guillermo in Patagonia, Chile not far from Coyhaique.

It’s a very quiet place now but more and more people are moving from Santiago where it’s getting unbearably hot….

São Paulo is a mishmash of architectural styles. The lack of recognisable brands and chain stores is totally refreshing with street art around every corner, amazing exhibitions and delicious (and cheap) places to eat. I even saw someone randomly cartwheeling their way across the street!

A huge honor to get to write something with my hero @naomiaklein.bsky.social.

We wish it was a happier topic, but it's an urgent one.

We dove deep into the apocalyptic fervor of the far right to issue a warning about the rise of End Times Fascism.

Perito Moreno Glacier. So expensive to go there as entrance fees have skyrocketed thanks to Milei’s defunding of society, but I was glad to stand there listening to it thunder and grumble, watching the light play across the ice.

Fascinating profile of Jay Graber.

I want to use BlueSky more, but when you use social media in a toxic way, it's hard to switch from toxic platforms & all their addicting tricks.

But I'm going to make the effort, & am delighted with Flashes as wasnt a fan of the Twitter format.

Let's migrate!

No immigrant has taken your job. You were laid off by a capitalist who required cheap labor and took advantage of that immigrant to increase his profits, and nothing makes him happier than to hear you blame the immigrant and not him.
