With no consultation, no thought to the international law position and a total disregard of the long term social consequences. It's appalling.
This is not a policy request coming from the general public who in are largely in favour of citizenship and permanent residency for all categories of migrants. This was cooked up Thick of It style.

Good thread on a bad policy. No idea why Labour have done this - it makes no sense either as a deterrent or a signal of enforcement/control. Hopefully it will be reversed.
