Kerivoula picta, the painted bat, looks like a figment of Halloween's imagination, but is real. Very sadly they're endangered, but the fact they exist is a pretty magical thing to think about today: www.batcon.org/bat/kerivoul...

Final serve (some what delayed so I made it a triple scoop) of #fatbatweek 2025, late enough to celebrate being amidst #BatWeek! (and shout out to the finalists of the Australasian Bat Of The Year hosted by the Australasian Bat Society)

Jane Austen's 250th birthday is coming up in December and I hope you'll celebrate by taking a turn about the room, acquiring a passion for dead leaves & closet shelves, and taking a fancy to the last person you could ever be prevailed upon to marry.

I unfortunately do have something for #ShowMeYourKnitting horror stories- see this beautiful jumper?
I washed my bedsheets, took them out of the dryer, and out came some of the prettiest felt in the world. Only got to wear it two or three times 😭

What is a roost? Here are some bat roost facts:

🪹 Bats do not make nests, but choose various places throughout the year to shelter, live and sleep in.
🦇 Where bats choose to roost varies between species and the time of the year.
📍 They don't stay in the same roost the whole year.

This week's #ShowMeYourKnitting and conveniently today's museum knitting is socks!
It's fun to do bright colours for gift knits because I never really wear them myself
