December 1st—time to finish submitting a million reference letters. While I’d never write a one-liner calling a student "adequate," it’s tough to say more when you barely know them. Thankfully had much more to say for mine this year. Wishing all applicants the best of luck! #academicsky #psyscisky

If you know undergraduate students attending Psychonomics, please encourage them to attend this workshop on Friday at noon. I will be one of the panel speakers, and we are discussing grad school applications and succeeding in grad school. #psynom24

When the temperature low for the day gets below 50, Dude goes into a ridiculous hibernation mode. He likely won’t be parted from this blanket until spring.

Important question from my 8-year old: What does the tooth fairy do with all the teeth she collects? Any good suggestions?

The DC Zoo has three giant pandas, who will all be returned to China by December 7. I was happy to see them this past weekend, but it’s hard to imagine the DC Zoo without pandas! I will need to visit the Atlanta pandas before they leave in early 2024. Could be my last time seeing pandas??

Travel recommendations needed for DC trip!

I’m surprising my 8-yr-old with a DC trip next weekend & I have made plans (eg White House tour booked!). BUT, what do we do if there is a govt shutdown? Any ideas for fun things that would be open in this scenario??

(Pic from my last trip for attention)

I tried out an AI headshot generator, and below are the real winners, lol. I keep imagining what people would say if these were part of my faculty profile.
