It’s no exaggeration to say that Chicago owes its existence to the grain trade. At one point we had so many grain elevators that they had their own set of Sanborn fire insurance maps. It’s a miracle that one survived, and demolishing it is such a squandered opportunity.

Hello all. As an introduction post, these are examples from the #Petrofuture map series, an ongoing project.

It's a critique of corporate #greenwashing, among other things. I take old gas station maps and add 66m of sea level rise, showing a world where all the ice caps have melted.

i’m hoping that posting this will motivate me to finally finish this. i need to work on the symbology mostly but when i realized chicago’s west sides streets are alphabetical i knew i wanted to map it. #maps #chicago #gis
