Kind of surprising to see that Horikoshi was thinking about a yellow cape for Deku this early on (chapter 84)

As usual, Sentai has some really good deals for Black Friday. This is a great year to pick up Run with the Wind!

I refuse to google whether “Angel’s Egg” is an egg of a different species that the angel possesses or the embryonic form of the angel.

Thought I’d share one of the coolest things to happen to me on the old site: I made a throwaway joke, then an artist (@haptronym) decided to make it into a comic, and a whole bunch of people laughed. Sometimes I re-read the comments for a boost.

Found out that the classic Doctor Who season sets have started using janky AI “restoration” and I’m so heartbroken.

I feel bad for Azuki's name change to Omoi.

The founder worked HARD to build up that brand and establish a positive relationship with the manga community.

Then the NFT Azuki comes in, pays X amount of money to be at the front page and visible, confusing people, and ruining the pub's rep

Not an enterprising person, but as a follow up designing my custom shelves, I spent some time trying to conceive of a modular system 16in shelving boxes of 8in, 9in, and 12in heights, allowing people to build and add on to their shelves in a way that perfectly accommodates their collection.
I wonder if any enterprising company out there has consider making shelves specifically for tankoban-size volumes and a little larger, like standard Viz Signature size.

I occasionally look at manga shelving videos and think of the wasted space in a normal bookshelf if you're doing one deep...

Anyone else think about how Doctor Who used "unalive" to mean "dead" in 1987?

A lot if things are bad, but the judiciary in Utah taking a firm stance against gerrymandering in the face of huge political pressure to do otherwise is a beautiful thing.

i simply do not purchase anything that says it used AI in its creative process and will forever be suspicious of companies that use it. breaks consumer trust immediately!
As machine translation tools under the banner of AI become increasingly accessible and easy to use, the light novel landscape is at a crossroads. Do light novel publishers compromise their product for more speed, and if so, by how much?
Does the Light Novel Translation Process Need AI?

My dad learned Japanese in the 70s and he would sometimes repeat this idea when he was annoyed by swears in subtitles.

He understands more now about why that isn’t true, but it’s fascinating how persistent this claim is.

No MHA in the last repost, but I remember when Viz announced 1 mil copies at the release of volume 17 in 2019. There has been a pandemic sales boom and more than double the volumes released since then, so I’m super curious what the current number is.
