Kind of surprising to see that Horikoshi was thinking about a yellow cape for Deku this early on (chapter 84)

Thought I’d share one of the coolest things to happen to me on the old site: I made a throwaway joke, then an artist (@haptronym) decided to make it into a comic, and a whole bunch of people laughed. Sometimes I re-read the comments for a boost.
A quote tweet by @haptronym that reads “I could not help myself. I could not stop laughing until I drew it” and 2 comic pages depicting my joke. My joke was: “After All Might declares “This will be your hero academy!” Deku spends his first day being impressed by everything at U.A., muttering 'My Hero__' 'My hero English class.' 'My hero cafeteria table.' 'My hero gym clothes.' When he is treated by Recovery Girl after busting his finger, she pulls open a snack drawer and tells Deku to help himself (gotta restore stamina). He selects a pack of Macadamias and holds one in his palm a moment before whispering, 'My hero macadamia.'”. Three typical comments on the comic quite post that say “This is hilarious”, “This made me smile a whole lot lmao” and “that last panel noooo 😭 this is so funny LOL”.

I feel bad for Azuki's name change to Omoi.

The founder worked HARD to build up that brand and establish a positive relationship with the manga community.

Then the NFT Azuki comes in, pays X amount of money to be at the front page and visible, confusing people, and ruining the pub's rep

Not an enterprising person, but as a follow up designing my custom shelves, I spent some time trying to conceive of a modular system 16in shelving boxes of 8in, 9in, and 12in heights, allowing people to build and add on to their shelves in a way that perfectly accommodates their collection.

I wonder if any enterprising company out there has consider making shelves specifically for tankoban-size volumes and a little larger, like standard Viz Signature size.

I occasionally look at manga shelving videos and think of the wasted space in a normal bookshelf if you're doing one deep...

Documenting my manga collection now that I have 501 English manga volumes

(533 manga volumes including other languages, 571 total volumes including all light novels, art books, data books, catalogs, magazines, etc)
Two oak bookshelves completely full of manga. One is a corner shelf mounted to the wall and the other is a tall, free standing bookcase on the floor next to the corner shelf. Some manga that don’t fit into the bookshelves, including the MHA boxset.

My dad learned Japanese in the 70s and he would sometimes repeat this idea when he was annoyed by swears in subtitles.

He understands more now about why that isn’t true, but it’s fascinating how persistent this claim is.

No MHA in the last repost, but I remember when Viz announced 1 mil copies at the release of volume 17 in 2019. There has been a pandemic sales boom and more than double the volumes released since then, so I’m super curious what the current number is.
