All this signature talk reminds me of a short-lived comic strip I made for my literary theory professor in college, called Derrida Goes to Denny's, in which Jacques Derrida keeps trying to get out of paying his bill using literary theory. (Debbie the waitress is real tired of his shit)
A four panel comic barely better than stick figures. In the first three panels, Jacques Derrida says, "By definition, a written signature implies the actual or empirical nonpresence of the signer. In order to function, that is, in order to be legible, a signature must have a repeatable, iterable, imitable form. It must be able to detach itself from the present and singular intention of its production!" And in the fourth panel, a visibly irritated waitress named Debbie yells, "Sorry, Derrida, but you still have to sign your check!"
