@johnromero.bsky.social's memoir is a must-read in part because his memory is compellingly ironclad. When Romero corrects any historical record, you may as well pull up CCTV footage from the period in question. (Also, it's the best gaming-related memoir of the past 5 yrs, even better than Sid's!)

I don't know how prevalent "Castle Doctrine" is in many states' stand-your-ground laws, but it's a cornerstone of the Texas version and, from what I understand, never got clawed back. The man who shot my friend Carter through his door was protected by said law shortly after it passed in 2007.

My semi-srs suggestion: dump war chest on a locally targeted Insta/Tok ad where a woman taps through a dating app, swipes right on someone, then asks, "Wait, did he cure his ballot?" Swipes through his pics, sees KC "ballot confirmed" image, sighs in relief. "CURE YOUR BALLOT TODAY" + easy URL.

From my limited understanding, Strauss said this shit was stupid, and SPD passed the buck, and we need leadership to put a foot down and end this capitulation to whichever whiny racist business owner doesn't like street meant competition, see also bsky.app/profile/olra...
SPD out here on Northgate shutting down the taco stand between 8th and Roosevelt due to "multiple licensing and health code violations" that they wouldn't provide anymore info about.

you *did* hit like on my positive reframing of the overall Seattle ballot on Tuesday night. I'm standing by that, because even if Wilson carries, I suspect it won't be decisive, and we'll have to reckon with whatever Harrell has that Wilson doesn't in voters' eyes (cough, cough, a penis)
