@crobertcargill.bsky.social Looking forward to seeing Black Phone 2.

Remembering when my psychopath mother took me to The Shining when I was 9. Prolly scar most kids for life. Realizing I was wearing the same shirt as Danny made the movie all too real.

It’s the simple things sometimes. Something as small as pickling your own jalapeños can take nachos-at-home night to another level.

So if most (sane/intelligent) people agree the Republican Party is attempting to take authoritarian control of the country…and I believe the USA will meet the moment and prevent that…what happens after? I mean are we talking de-Baathification here? Cuz that worked so well before.

I guess if you help light an apartment building on fire and then convince the landlord and the renters to put the fire out together, you don’t qualify for firefighter of the year.

Who had Marjorie Taylor Greene on their bingo card to be the first MAGA to blame Republican leadership for the shutdown? Go buy a lotto ticket!

As a retired US serviceman the acronym TCN conjures up many thoughts. TCN (Third Country National) is ubiquitous to anyone deployed 1990-onwards. You (I) are American. Whatever country you are deployed to (Saudi, Qatar) is the second country. A TCN is someone there with you from somewhere else.

Desperately seeking thoughts on all that is Andor fashion but especially the Patrick Batemanesque Cyril’s work attire.

So much character development in one paragraph. Joe Abercrombie is great. His ability to distill down to one paragraph what I’d have taken 1-2 prequel books to convey. I know writers talk about the difficulty in writing anything. What’s underreported is the difficulty in being effectively concise.

Looking forward to all the documentaries and movies that will be made about this era of American history. Just got to survive the reality first.

obviously still looking forward to it hugely but turns out there really is an age at which "getting ready for a massive boozy party to be attended by dozens of pals" stops feeling fully "weeeyyyyy" and starts feeling a bit more "Theoden minutes before the battle of Helm's Deep"

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.

What’s with the belief that they won the election so everything they do is right? Winning an election doesn’t make you right, it makes you responsible.

It’s hard not to feel anxious about how things have rapidly changed in our lives. My wife is a government employee, I’m retired military starting a new job on our overseas base. The confusion and fear that is clearly going around is discouraging. Never mind the confusion of our European neighbors

St. Augustine voiced it first I think but William Penn has the more “modern” (if you will) take.

"Right is right, even if everyone is against it, and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it."

I’m reminded of this when people tell me how many people voted for this.

As a (retired) professional chef I sometimes take for granted how therapeutic the act of cooking for others can be. I think it may have to do with the fact that at its core cooking is a collaborative effort.

Juan Soto to the Mets has a chance to be as impactful as Aaron Rodger’s to the Jets. I’m guessing 2-3 years before talks with the Dodgers to bail them out of this contract.

Great trails to trek here in Northern Italy. Looking for feedback on a good offline trail map resource.

Any advice out there on #trailmaps I need an offline capable app for southern Europe (Northern Italy really). Don’t mind paying for the maps to download…

Hiked the trail by my house in Polcenigo today. The view as I started was stunning as always. An hour later hiking through the forest and the view was just as grand.
