This May’s elections are expected to bring chaos because our voting system is broken.

I’ve written to my MP to push for fairer elections before it’s too late. It takes 2 minutes to do the same here: actionnetwork.org/letters/tell...

Tell your MP: our democracy shouldn’t be a gamble!
Our democracy shouldn’t be a gamble. First Past the Post fails 70% of voters. We urgently need to scrap it. I’ve asked my MP to attend a crucial briefing on how to do just that. Join me 👉

Men are extremely keen to explain to me that Britain *needs* a domestic steel production plant and doesn't necessarily *need* universities. Okay. Steel contributed about £1.7bn to the UK economy in 2024. Universities contributed more than £200bn.

Did you know the first-known instance of the phrase 'Merry Christmas' stems from a letter written from prison by Bishop John Fisher in 1534, when he wrote to Thomas Cromwell, perhaps wryly, “And thus our Lord send yow a mery Christenmas".

Fisher was beheaded six months later.

Here’s a BBC radio programme I loved making 5 years ago about the overlap between history and comedy - I played funny stuff from the archive and interviewed people like Stephen Fry, Cariad Lloyd, and Natalie Haynes. This is part 1 of 3, part 2 will go out next week? www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...
