Went to a #warmachine community day today that had 19 attendees. I think there ended up being 5 or 6 demos run in total, plus a ton of friendly games. Really great to see the community back on the upswing.

Pretty excited to try some new Reef Troll builds soon. Really felt like they were stuck with ranged for the last year, but with the update this week there are some really cool melee options now. Boomhowler and Ragemonger both have some real potential.

This is true of a lot of communities, including wargaming. Worth keeping in mind as any community you are a part of grows and evolves.
Many of the complaints on here are the "last one through the door" phenomenon, when people bemoan how great a place/group/fandom used to be and that time period is always right after the complainer showed up. Everyone wants to close the door behind them, like, "Now that I'M here, it's perfect." 1/2
