Now here's a few painted models for miniatures I haven't recruited yet. A Janissary with a Siege Jezzail, and an Assassin with twin Assassin's Daggers. Super fun warband to paint up! I love the color scheme I came up with. 30 Victory Points to anyone who can guess what I based the scheme off of!

Azebs are the backbone of the Hawks of Allah, and all the incendiary machine guns, siege jezzails, masterwork jezzails, and so on, exist entirely to give an Azeb with a flamethrower the blood markers he needs to smite Allah's enemies. And no battle would be won without Azebs to hold objectives.

Then we have Fakhir, a Sultanate Sapper I was able to promote. He wields a Masterwork Jezzail which gives him a ridiculous amount of dice on to-hit rolls. He's from a wealthy artisan family back home and the Hawks of Allah are funded largely by dipping into his family's coffers.

Then we have the alchemist Djamila, who's the real star of the show. She's carrying a machine gun across her back she keeps loaded with alchemically infused incendiary ammunition. She's been the MvP of nearly every game, with her ability to ping 6 blood onto a target in a single shooting action.

The Hawks of Allah are my Iron Sultanate warband in the campaign I'm currently running at my two local game stores. We meet twice a week to play games of Trench Crusade. We're at the halfway checkpoint of the campaign so while I wait for people to catch up, I've been painting my soldiers up.

It's not an Escher though. The customization variant they picked looks like an Escher because she's a lady with a mohawk but there's no such thing as male Escher. If the class was named Escher the character on the right would be a little bizarre LMAO.

This means that basically nothing about the Black Templars can't be found in some form in other chapters. You want black armored melee berserkers? Blood Angels Death Company. Religious veneration of the Emperor? The Space Wolves literally call him the Allfather and essentially treat him like Odin.

Black Templars, meanwhile, still have access to some of the best weaponry mankind can produce, even having chapter-specific Land Raider patterns, still generally prefer to get stuck in for a melee, and are religiously devoted to the service of the Emperor, but just like... Moreso, on all fronts.

Space Marines are deeply indoctrinated, zealously devoted elite shock troops. While they have access to some of the strongest ranged weapons humanity can produce, their augmented nature makes them especially deadly in melee combat. Chapters are defined by how they diverge from this template.

I find the Black Templars generally pretty boring as a Space Marine Chapter because as much as their lore likes to hype them up as these renegade anti-codex marines who don't play by the rules, they are in practice just an extreme version of what all Space Marine chapters already are?
