Recent events in the news regarding South Africa brought home to me how full circle my walk of faith has been as I have searched to find a spiritual home where I could learn to walk in love. This essay, posted on Substack is written in two parts. open.substack.com/pub/sallywes...

Scanlon: The Gulf of Mexico was so named over 500 years ago. If we want to update that name to reflect our current culture, maybe we should call it the Sea of Emoluments—you know, the place where we can board the Ship of Fools and navigate from a State of Ignorance to the Confederacy of Dunces…

The DOJ lawyer who made the mistake of answering the court's questions about Abrego-Garcia candidly (eg yes he was mistakenly deported, a fact the Administration already has acknowledged), which got him put on administrative leave, has now been fired, ending his 15-year DOJ career..

I want to tell you why the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia should matter to you.

The one power you cannot give the executive is the ability to imprison or expel anyone regardless of their legal rights. That is our key check against autocracy. And we are watching it disappear.

Stock market reversal - I don’t know about you, but I feel like I just got flowers with an “I’m sorry” note attached from a chronic abuser. I don’t trust Trump on this. Or anything else. Do you?

We flew from Colorado Springs to Atlanta this morning. My first question when I had WiFi again was, “ How’s Cory Booker doing? Is he still going strong?” He is! Go Cory. Thank you for making good trouble and standing for democracy on the Senate floor.
Senator Cory Booker is still speaking this morning. It’s been 12 hours and he’s still going. We THANK YOU Senator!!

The fact that the Department of Justice has not, and will never, launch an investigation into this massive national security breach tells you all you need to know about this lawless and profoundly corrupt Administration.

If you think what happened to Rumeysa Ozturk can't happen to you because you're a citizen and she's not, you are sorely mistaken. Ozturk was snatched off the street not for being a national security threat but for having a wrong opinion. If we don't put a stop to this, it's coming for all of us.

Today, on the twenty-third anniversary of my father’s On the twenty-third anniversary of my father’s death, I’ve written a few memories about him and why and how I gain inspiration from him to keep on doing the excavation work of writing memoir.
Memoir Writing - Is There a Purpose for It?
Why should I keep writing this damn memoir that never seems to get done? I’ve been at it for years. Can any of you relate? The answer below is mostly written for me so I’ll keep writing.

Hey, Politico --

I consider myself to have "long-term standing in the private legal community" and I have been willing to speak out almost every single day. And, I'm not alone.

Yes, there is widespread cowardice among law firms, but don't ignore those refusing to bow down.

Defiantly,

Today Donald Trump attacked me by name in a speech at the Department of Justice. Of course I am worried, but courage comes from acting in spite of being worried. I have made my choice: I will continue to speak out, I will continue to litigate, I will continue to stand tall.

I will never bow down.

Shadow Surgeon General @vinguptamd.bsky.social giving you the advice you need
We spent nearly 8 minutes this morning trying to set the record straight on a number of health matters.

I’d expect the Surgeon General or NIH Director to do this, but since they’re not, here it is in 4 clips.
