A lot of nurse work is hidden—like spotting problems early, managing safety, and coordinating care. Thats why education is so important! It gives us the skills and knowledge to handle complex tasks, make informed decisions, and show that we’re more than just caregivers—we’re professionals #nursesky

Many interesting points here! Being first to take the rap - absolutely! NDAs - lack of sincerity and transparency hurts brands and the nursing brand is no different!

A seat at the decision making table, not being othered or being the first to take the rap when care is seen to fail, a reduction in NDA’s for senior nurses! #NurseSky #Nursism

The focus is on getting better reward- pay- an entirely appropriate thing but insufficient focus is being given on securing the recognition of nursing as a profession - reward and recognition go hand in hand #NurseSky #Nursism

Feel free to contact me re Nursism - by naming it we can talk about, when enough of us are talking about we can work to challenge it #NurseSky

that’s kind Leanne 🙏. Nursism - defined as unconscious prejudice towards nurses and nursing formed from intersecting views ( like those already mentioned) gendered work etc making the knowledge of nurses less than others because they are nurses - nursing does not have the same knowledge status

points made about media images of sexy nurse - think stag night fantasy dragon- matron one flew over the cuckoo nest - a hand maiden - these don’t conjure up ‘clever or educated’ Much of the work of nurses that keeps people safe is hidden/ unspoken so unknown

What do others think? #NurseSky

Nurses tend to talk about nursing using sentiment, struggle to explain the difference between lay and therapeutic care, registered and non registered nursing work #NurseSky

I’d add Terry’s comments that the way nurses talk about nursing shapes the way nurses are viewed #NurseSky

You don’t need a degree to be a good nurse
