In Peterborough Cathedral today, unexpectedly, I found heart-wrenching poetry by children from Gaza. Part of a project by (I think) @handsupproject.bsky.social. One is about (our) silence being worse than war so i thought I'd share, even tho' people may know about this @michaelrosenyes.bsky.social

Theory books; Brahms (always out); Basil plant (to ward off flies); Balloon pump (to clear dust off the strings), Teddy band & stickers (for little pianists), Tottering & Frankly Dangerous Pile of music on floor (research for the Blog I Will Never Write).

I like encountering my granny (who died 40 years ago) in the pages of her music – just like I used to bump into her under the mulberry tree in her garden, each one of us obscured in its boughs sagging with fruit. Here is her scholarly comment on one of the Goldberg Variations. I agree.
