Old Labour; absolutely horrified.
I have no time for Ken Clark, but euw, Fiona Bruce, chuckling patronisingly at the old person and shutting him up. #bbcqt

Well that was peculiar - an entire #newsnight based around a leadership challenge that hasn’t happened, with 3 panellists who couldn’t be more peripheral - and 1 enormous elephant sitting in the room.

*How* does testing 8yos improve their literacy? How does *telling* teachers to provide enrichment activity *enable* them to fund it? This sounds like McSweeney playing to the union-bashing gallery + checking Starmer's Music 'to do' item. @lucympowell.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

In Peterborough Cathedral today, unexpectedly, I found heart-wrenching poetry by children from Gaza. Part of a project by (I think) @handsupproject.bsky.social. One is about (our) silence being worse than war so i thought I'd share, even tho' people may know about this @michaelrosenyes.bsky.social

Amazing light! Looks like a demented giant woodpecker is rapping its beak on the railway bridge.

Just did an income-tax-rise calculator thing that shows I'd be £16.06 worse off a month if Rachel Reeves puts up income tax by a penny. So we'd all be £16.06 better off. Do it! Do it!

I sense Jess Phillips is becoming the new Angela Rayner, a strong recognisable Labour voice – a strong recognisable FEMALE Labour voice – who is the focus of an orchestrated campaign by others to neuter the government.

We won't even mention "Rachel from Accounts".

The next target – Lucy Powell.

Two tots fighting in the pub today reminded me of me and my brother - except that I would allow a temporary ceasefire if an airplane flew overhead, for my brother to enjoy. Then ours eyes would lock and we'd resume. Geneva Convention for kids.

Never forget or forgive that Trump, Rubio, & Musk *chose* to inflict this monumental level of death and suffering on the poorest & most vulnerable people.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has repeatedly said “no one has died" because of his government’s decision to gut its foreign aid program.

The Sound of Music. I was 6 when it came out and I have never seen it - except for the opening sequence. I burst into tears when Julie Andrews reached the top of the hill, flung her arms out and sang, 'The hills are alive, with the sound of music...'. I had to leave the room.
Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

This is Andy Burnham in a nutshell. Big headline! Yay! Bold! Then the inevitable caveat: He wants to rejoin the EU "in his lifetime". He's 55 ffs. He wasn't the answer in 2015 and he's not the answer now. He's just as timorous as Starmer. He just talks better. www.newstatesman.com/politics/uk-...
