The day we shared our lived experience at the ministerial round table with Matt Hancock I remember thinking -
If we can explain the impact on children, action will be taken to mitigate risk & sound the alarm. 🚨

We thought people would care.

#schoolnurses have critical role in educating young people, parents & carers about importance of #HPV & all immunisations Key part of specialist #publichealth role @melhayward.bsky.social @susiesis.bsky.social @ritajenner.bsky.social @zoe8.bsky.social @adphuk.bsky.social @ogden140.bsky.social
300,000 women die from cervical cancer every year.

But this is a cancer we can effectively eliminate with the HPV vaccine.

This is something very few people know about.

This isn’t new information but is important to keep it in the news. I emailed my own labour MP for support with an urgent SEND matter over 2 months ago. He’s not replied. No parents in my area are getting responses from him if they email about SEND matters. Send help!

Important article from @thekingsfund.bsky.social 👇 a preventative approach to health means prioritising children.

As co-chairs of the Children and Young People's Health Policy Influencing Group, we want to see child health become a national priority.

If you’re doing patient involvement for a mental health service and you are only listening to people who have been able to use the service, you risk an incomplete picture. You also need to listen to those who needed the service but were excluded from it, unable to access it, or ‘gatekept’ away.

Ideas to support ‘mental health’ are often based on the that it is something completely internal and ‘within’ a person only. Yet, the reality is that we don’t exist separately from a context around us and our experiences of that. We can’t separate ourselves from this. They shape things for us. 1/4

Children are losing months of playtime during their school lives, argues former children's commissioner Anne Longfield. Here, she sets out how to fix that.
Let’s make more time for play in the school day
If we want to improve wellbeing among young people of all ages, we should ensure school gives them a chance to explore, create and have fun with one another, says Anne Longfield

This is a real problem. Many health visitors (& others in the community) are employed by private providers, not routinely collected or reported in NHS monthly workforce reports.
