This is definitely my experience too. You have to understand the context in which the phrase was learnt in order to understand what it means to the person. Like one child I knew who would say ‘good boy’ when he wanted to end an interaction.

💯% this. Mental health/wellbeing exists in, develops in and is maintained or damaged by context. Individual factors may well be a part of the picture, but they are in no way the whole picture.
Ideas to support ‘mental health’ are often based on the that it is something completely internal and ‘within’ a person only. Yet, the reality is that we don’t exist separately from a context around us and our experiences of that. We can’t separate ourselves from this. They shape things for us. 1/4
