Realized I hadn’t posted in a while after running into @sadchimpson.bsky.social. So this one’s for you: my return to the movie palace after a very long hiatus. Euphoric and still processing “One Battle After Another”.

Never thought it would be radical or stance-taking to return to using an mp3 player but here we are. I quit Spotify over a year ago and am feeling even more sure of my decision.

I’ve decided the trend of the summer will be “non-traditional purses” like Jane Birkin and her baskets. I’m rocking a vintage lunchbox!

Also the passcode for the McDonald’s at Western and Milwaukee is 7764.

Practicing free will means deciding to drive to Calumet Fisheries and eating your smoked shrimp at Calumet Beach.

My iPod has truly become my obsession. Between buying and borrowing CDs again and getting back into DVDs, I feel a great sense of relief that I am controlling my own access to media. And the lack of ads & data gathering on me by some company/algorithm is gloriously freeing.

We saw “Sinners” and now I can’t stop thinking about it. The music! The storytelling! The choreography! The Southern vampires!!

Cannot believe we got married in the venue that swept the Oscars this year.

Boy are we lucky “A Complete Unknown” didn’t come out when I was in high school. Would have made it my complete identity (see: “Walk The Line” and that time I wrote a country song).

“Babygirl” has me thinking about power play, actual power (tied to money and prestige), what it means for women to have power, and the meaning of actually getting what you want. Loved every second of this; so many tight shots, it’s claustrophobic.

“Nosferatu” was vile, horrifying, and fantastically captivating. The attention to detail, specifically in the lighting and body / movement work, was spectacular. A movie not to be missed in theaters.

Life comes at you pretty fast. You respond to a skeet about cat sitting, and suddenly you’re chilling with a very well appointed cat named Mr. Macaroni. Thanks for posting @amorygatsby.bsky.social

Much belated post; I saw “Queer” on Wednesday at my old stomping grounds in Georgetown. Boy did that movie make me want a cigarette. The lighting, costumes, and sets were exceptional. And the surreal dance at the end was gorgeously choreographed and edited.

The Feliz González Torres exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery is quiet, diminutive, but mighty. Best show I’ve been to in a long time. Poetic, featuring FGT works I’ve not seen before alongside works from the NPG’s storied collection.

No Spotify Wrapped for me this year! This is what I’ve been listening to this week (all from the library):

Foxygen “We Are The 21st Century…”
Lorde “Melodrama”
The Decemberists “As It Ever Was…”
The Strokes “The New Abnormal”
Horsegirl “Versions of Modern Performance”

Repeat viewing of “Conclave” with my dad. Even though I knew the twists and turns were coming, I was still shocked! What a gorgeous, lush, complex, quiet, yet thrilling movie. Ten stars for Isabella Rossellini’s little curtsy.

Today’s view was “Gladiator II”. Absolutely perfect movie to see in a full house the day after Thanksgiving. Great way to digest last night’s meal; nothing but plot, gorgeous textiles, and guys with great noses.

Seeing “A Real Pain”. Loving being downtown on a Monday, seeing the Christmas and holiday decor lining the stores and streets.
