In this article, which I published on the Geeska website, I provide an overview of the book From Tyranny to Anarchy: The Somali Experience, written by the renowned scholar Hussein Mohamed Aden, also known as Tansaaniya—may God have mercy on him.

I had a conversation with an 80-year-old version of myself, Hanna Rosin writes. I didn’t like her. theatln.tc/6OWV4rEh

I just got my hands on 'Adkeysi' by the esteemed Somali politician and intellectual Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame. His debut book explores political struggles, intellectual growth, and spiritual resilience. Can’t wait to finish it before 2024 ends!

If you’re afraid that books might change someone’s thinking, you’re not afraid of books, you’re afraid of thinking.

Some of you are better editors than you are writers and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. You've spent a lifetime developing your taste through reading and watching films & TV - you know what's good and what's shit. Trust that superpower when you edit. End result is ultimately the same.

Hey, grown-ups! Don't tell kids that reading is a worthwhile and pleasurable activity - show them! Let them catch you reading a book and sighing, or laughing, or emitting little squeaks of fear, or going back and rereading a bit out loud to yourself. Be a model reader!

I started being regularly published when I was 25. I didn't make my first dollar writing until I was 30. I didn't sell my first novel or screenplay until I was 35. Many of you hadn't even heard of anything I'd written until I was over 40.

You have time. There is no expiration date on writers.

*sigh*

Anyway, just create. Write shit, draw shit, build whatever you want, that's the important part.

There's no be-all end-all formula for the Perfect Work.

Just be YOU. No one can ever create what YOU create b/c it's you making it, and you are the only you.
