The horse heads, the singularity of the pommel, the filigrees.... One of those designs that haunts my mind and despite it being a challenge it felt like a natural step in my leather skills. It's been 6 months of slow progress in my free time but couldn't be happier with the result

Collage of 6 pics of different stages of the hilts' shaping. The first shows the top layer of the guards tooled on the leather with the shape of the ring beside traced. The second shows both hilts assembled, 4 layers of leather glued together, the handles carved and sanded roughly, the pommels only traced with a pen on the block of layers, and the tooled layers of the guards missing. On the third, the tooled layer is glued to the rest, the pommel is roughly carved in the trapezoidal shape and there is a piece of leather with the final layer of the pommel tooled and still uncut; one of the hilts is facing down showing the back part where the strap will be attached and the stud is placed in the pommel. The three pics behind show the final aspect of the hilts unpainted: a general view of both hilts, one grabbed and one on the cutting mat, a very close up pic of one of the horses neck, the textures of the filigrees and the mane at the external border; and a pic of the corners of the pommels, an almost hidden part from most of viewpoints, with more filigrees carved with a pyrograph Collage of 4 pics showing the moulding process of the blade/straps. First, both straps side by side, one undyed and only the fullers carved along the center, and one black with only the edges moulded downwards. Behind, both pics of the straps making an eight loop to show the maximum possible of the volumes, and both with the fullers and the edges completely done. And last, a very angled pic from the hilts, the belts resting on a bed, with the lightning heavily from the side upwards to show the volumes of the pieces when they will be assembled Collage of 8 pics of the painting process. First, two pics, one of the hilts and one of the straps, only painted in white on the most prominent volumes. The second pair of pics shows a black layer on the nooks and crannies and most of the surface, but the most prominent volumes still white. The next pair shows the first layer of metallic painting, dark bronze and thin silver. And the last pair shows the final layer, a lightly darker and a brighter golden for the hilts, the handle already dyed, and a glowing silver for the blades Last collage of finished work, both belts laying stretched on the lawn and pic taken from above. All 5 different parts of the elven leather helm dyed in green, with only the frontal part riveting all the parts together The two rows of leaves that decorates each side of the helm, the one in the left only marked and cut, with the veins of the leaves tooled but plain. The one in the right is also moulded. Both are still unpainted All the three rows of leaves (both sides and the one on the forehead) painted in bright yellow, before the different colour shadows applied Pic of the helm finally done worn by me

This may be the only good comparative piece that fits from this year: purses decorated with a mythological creature (the first one is a joke, in spanish griffin and faucet share the same word)

Round piece of unpainted leather with an embossed decoration in the center: a griffin, lion legs and tail, eagle wings opened toward the back and part of the front paws, but the claws are faucet handles and it has a tap head Piece of an unpainted leather shaped as a cost of arms, in the center a phoenix carved, with the wings and a big tail with three enormous feathers. Also, each small feather in the wings and the body is undercut and lifted from the base. The background is grained textured too Finished purse with the round piece of the embossed griffin/faucet stitched to the cover and with a strap below acting as a fastener. It's a rectangular purse dyed in green with a yellow flow around the embossed griffin, brown decorated borders in all the edges and brown thread Finished purse with the phoenix directly carved on the cover and painted in reds and yellows with a little hint of people in the eyes and some wings feathers and black background. Working on Christmas ornaments this weekend. I usually make a dozen or so to give to friends and family. Left to right is my progress so far!
A large snowflake made of intertwined bent paper. A smaller snowflake of the same design but made with a slightly floppy brown leather. The edges of many of the strips are hastily painted gold. A third snowflake, of a stiffer red leather which looks a bit neater than the other two

I'm a very distracted and forgetful and messy person, so there are a bunch of pieces of mine dispersed randomly around the house. And sometimes I just get aware of one of them and get caught by surprise... and most of times I start laughing my ass off like an stranger would do paying me a visit XD

My first thought entering my bedroom and looking at this was "Look at this chunky boy, living his best life, getting to be the storage guardian and munching so many different things. Lol how content and satisfied he looks! I love you, guy!" My collection of swordbelts rolled up and piled one of top of another, the first Celtic-inspired one, the Xena one, the LoTR and the Warrior Nun, the setting sun hitting sharply from the side, accentuating strongly the volumes and the metallic shines and shadows.
